Lorenzo Da Ponte
Born Emanuele Conegliano (March 10, 1749 – August 17, 1838).
He was Mozart's friend and librettist for his three"italian" operas: "Le nozze di Figaro", "Don Giovanni" and "Cosi' fan tutte"
He was a Jew by birth. He took the name Lorenzo Da Ponte at the age of 14 from the bishop of Ceneda (now Vittorio Veneto) who baptized him and made him a catholic.
